I see this in what people are listening to all around the world on Internet radio, what some of the older DJs are playing now in clubs around the world (live recordings), and whenever I'm abroad myself - in what music people put on on the beach, in their cars, etc. They're looking back to the Golden Era of Progressive House - 1996-2003 - the six years in which the only ever truly serious 'on-one' vibe on the dancefloors (plus non-dancefloor communal appreciative head-bobbing:) around the world existed. Before it was just House and other sub-genres. This was ok, but it never really found itself properly, and that's coming from me - a lover of the earliest Chicago (see, rather listen to: "1986-1996 - Old-School House: Da Revival"). Only when Prog came along - pioneered by the Sasha, Digweed, Warren, and taken up by thousands of lesser known but equally as good DJs around the world - did we have the Golden Era of seriously journey-able hypno dancefloor mayhem. Mixes were journeys made up of a tapestry of steady 4/4 beats, minor chords, dark stretches, melodic parts, killer bassline moments, calm bits, beatless sections, vocal snippets - all seamlessly blended to seriously affect the subconscious. Life isn't a dance. Life is a Prog mix. So, I'm doing a bit of a retrospective: clearing off this site some of my most recent mixes and leaving you with just my faves: "Deep-Prog" and "Context-Free" - on the "Mixes" page.
